This blog is intended to showcase my pictures or those of other photographers who have moved beyond the pretty picture and for whom photography is more than entertainment - photography that aims at being true, not at being beautiful because what is true is most often beautiful..

By "sold a photograph" do you mean:
1) Sold a print as art
2) Licensed a picture for reproduction
3) Other?
In my case, it's not many of #1, but quite a few of #2.
Yes to both
I have sold prints as Art and have also purchased prints as art.
Yes to both.
Purchases have mostly been people I know one way or another, none of them for large sums of money.
Sales have mostly been through a co-op gallery. That has not been working well for me lately, and I am considering other options.
I sell photographs, both framed and unframed, at a local tourist area.
I'm outside, beside a walkway, about 50 feet from a lake. Just the view is enough to make my day.
So I need to judge whether it's going to rain or not (weather reports are sometimes conflicting) or if it's not too hot. Last saturday it was 32 celsius, so I stayed home. I went back yesterday and sold one framed canvas color print and four unmounted b&w prints.
I've bought prints through 20x200, as well as personal web sites.
I sold one print at a show earlier this year, printed on washi-paper and minimally hung (no frame, no backing, just aluminum rods across the top and bottom). I gave all of the proceeds to charity.
I also say 'yes" to both.
What I have sold is was a long time ago and could not be categorized as art... more like documentation.
Have bought some photos: framed and unframed, but never too expensive... under a hundred dollars.
Yes and yes.
A museum awarded me a five figure cash prize for one photograph that was chosen to be part of the museum's permanent collection.
Yes to both questions - the sale were licenses for commercial use.
Yes to both. But only one of each
Yes to both
Yes to both.
Yes to #1
Yes to both, commericial photographs and art prints, bought and sold, 4 figures per photo, each way
yes for both
Never bought a print. Was given a few. Sold one once. Gave a few away. Got a bottle of wine for one once. Allowed use for a wine label. Got a case of wine for that.
Received a Brooks Jensen portfolio as a gift and have given framed photos as gifts.
Yes to both questions. I've sold/licensed some and bought a few. (I also won one once, but never received it.)
