This blog is intended to showcase my pictures or those of other photographers who have moved beyond the pretty picture and for whom photography is more than entertainment - photography that aims at being true, not at being beautiful because what is true is most often beautiful..

More to the point, who wants to look at all those damn twigs? In any season......

my response: I assume, amongst the on-average 200 unique visits a day (excluding weekends) to this blog, there are some who like to look at "all those damn twigs" or pictures thereof.

How about it? Let's hear it. Any twig affectionados in the crowd?

Twigs good, leaves bad.

I'm a fan of twigs. As a matter of fact, I think I have figured out that my brain reacts to tangled nature messes about the same way it reacts to a sky full of fireworks--with heightened delight, all synapses firing away. And I even let out "ooohs" and "aaahs" for both. Twigs are good. So are thorny vines, dead trees, and dried up weeds.

Pollock...

Raised on Friedlander. Give me twigs or give me twigs!

Somehow, I don't really think that a survey of your own readership is a fair poll. Kind of like some of the polls that Fox News runs.

In all seriousness, I was mostly just poking fun. I'm sure that some people can get really excited (or "have all synapses firing away") when they see these images. Or create them. But personally, I don't get it. Aside from the old messages of natural cycles and life and death and decay, what am I supposed to see here? What insight into "naturalness" or humanity's interaction with it is supposed to jump out at me? Or is it just another brand of nihilism?

And "Pollock"? Wouldn't have expected that from Jimmi, even in jest.

Jackson Pollock

Ah, sorry Jimmi. I should have made the connection. Now my Polish ancestors can rest in peace!

Of course, I'm not real fond of Jackson Pollock, either. Maybe that's why he slipped through my flawed thought process.....

I really like some of these; I enjoy following the flow and the patterns.

I struggle a bit with #2 though. that out of focus element in the center of the forground pulls me out of it.
