Over the past week or 2 a number of things that I have read have gotten stuck in my head.

I can't seem to shake the thoughts that have been engendered by these various thought thorns. One recent notion in particular is nagging at me like a missed picture making opportunity:

Maybe talking about photography and its qualities is a bit like talking about wine and trying to describe it ... ~ Jörg Colberg @ Conscientious

Feel free to venture an opinion ...

Should we then stop trying, just because it is difficult, intellectually? We seem to live in a society that praises the hard of thinking and discourages/ridicules those of a thoughtful disposition. So much for civilization.

I rather enjoy discussing the varying tastes/flavors in wine. The same for photography. Sure it takes a bit of slowing down and thinking...

Perhaps Jörg just meant that the process of analyzing photographs is a bit esoteric and subjective, that there is nothing quantifiable nor universal about the qualities?

Unfortunately while for wine we have a vastly developed vocabulary it is not the same for a photo.
