civilized ku # 805 ~ testing the new iPad
I'm sitting here in a in a hotel restaurant - in suburban south Jersey, the day after the big storm - waiting for my pancakes and egg. The place is crawling with stranded air-travelers, many of whom are speaking in foreign tongues. Since the Nor'easter has "paralyzed" the northeast, many of them will be here (in the hotel) a bit longer than I will be.
That's because our "little" intrepid Suzuki SX4 (iAWD) is parked outside, awaiting our driving pleasure, after transporting me, the wife, and Hugo to our actual destination - this hotel. Yesterday, we drove into the teeth of the storm about 120 miles north of here and proceeded to spend the next 5 hours negotiating our way through all kinds of vehicular mayhem and wreckage. Quite obviously, there were a whole bunch of people out on the roads who had no business being there.
In any event, here I sit, typing away on our new iPad, waiting for the Apple store to open so I can test drive (and maybe purchase) a Mac Air for use as my portable picture making assistant.
And, no, we didn't drive all this way just to go to the Apple store. Last evening was the wife's family Xmas party.

Mark, you crack me up with the 'whole lot of people comment'. Merry Christmas and do have a safe trip home. I use an iPad as a second computer currently, and am also curious about the new Air. Have fun.
The new MacBook Airs are pretty nice. I got the 13". I'd recommend getting it maxed out with RAM and drive space, because the thing has no user serviceable parts whatsoever, and OS X keeps getting more and more bloated.
Battery life not as good as they claim. I'm getting 4-5 hours on moderate use. They are speedier than the previous Airs, which were almost too slow for general PC type use. Fan comes on occasionally and surprisingly, louder than I thought. Display is bright and comfortable to look at--good for browsing photography.
"typing away on our new iPad"...
I was at your house for xmas and I seem to recall you giving "the wife" the ipad as a gift. How did it become "our" new ipad in only 2 days?
Aaron - it's the 50/50 'till-death-do-us-part marriage thing at it's very best.
Love the colour in this image.
In terms of composition, the road leads your eye out of the frame but the bright triangle of cloud(?) on the right hand side of the image directs the eye back in again. It was the second look before I realised the old building behind the tree. The light clouds on the upper left balance out the darker tones of the road.
A very "natural" and balanced composition.
