This blog is intended to showcase my pictures or those of other photographers who have moved beyond the pretty picture and for whom photography is more than entertainment - photography that aims at being true, not at being beautiful because what is true is most often beautiful..

civilized ku # 828 ~ imagine that

As I mentioned recently, one of my goals for 2011 is to get my pictures seen.

Obviously, the ultimate seen-ness is gallery exhibits but what I primarily mean by "seen" is getting the work in front of the eyes of gallery owners / directors with book publishers as another possibility. Just a few weeks into the new year and it seems that my objective is gathering mass like a snowball rolling down a snow covered slope.

In addition to yesterday's mention of the interest in magazine publication of my Forks pictures, while I was busy working away on the prep for the Forks gallery exhibit, I received an email that read (in part) ....

... The Gallery Committee met to review the artwork submitted for the 2011-2012 gallery schedule, and we are pleased to announce that your work has been chosen for a group exhibition at the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts. This show will be called “IMPACT” Our Changing Environment. We will ask each selected artist to choose 2-3 framed photographs that relate to the environment for the exhibit. We would ask you to send work that you submitted about the Adirondacks without the APA.

FYI, the requested work, "work that you submitted about the Adirondacks without the APA", is the previously posted Without the APA picture.

After submitting my signed exhibition contract to the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, I received a followup email that stated (in part) ...

I am so glad to hear that you can participate in this show, in part, I was inspired by your theme for this exhibit. I look forward to working with you ...

Imagine that. My picture(s) engendered inspiration. Hot damn. Imagine that. And, best of all, I did without pandering to the pretty picture crowd.

If this keeps up I may have to change my name from The Landscapist to The Exhibitionist.
