Mark this is very funny, great shot
Oh, these are frightening things to see for a NYC biker such as myself.
I remember going to see Man From La Mancha somewhere off Broadway in 1966 or thereabouts. On the way to the theater I saw a group of men gathered around a pristine 56 Thunderbird and I thought they were just oogling it like I'd have done. On my way home after the show I passed the stripped out carcass of that lovely car. Motor, transmission, wheels, and more - all gone. I don't have much sympathy for the sort of fucks who steal that which others have traded their lifetime for. Stripped bikes make me angry.
Even more interesting is that the chain and lock are rusty. So, the owner may have cried and walked away, leaving it there for some reason. Also, the city hasn't removed it for some reason.
You could complete an entire series of bike skeleton photos just by walking around for a day on the University of Illinois campus. I think mine is still there from 1980.... ;-)
