civilized ku # 802 ~ Happy Holidays to you and yours
A random thought, relative to Snowy tangle # 2 (in the previous entry) and to a previous entry about "abstract" pictures, is summed up rather neatly by this thought from Sir Ansel (circa 1932) ...
In a strict sense photography can never be abstract, for the camera is incapable of synthetic integration.
I'm totally in agreement with this notion but it's important to note that Adams' was opining about the camera's capabilities, not those of the picture maker who, for better or for worse, has plenty of "synthetic integration" tools and techniques at his/her command - especially so in the post-picture making digital domain.

Very appealing Xmas card. Great image and design. Hopefully you were able to post it off to people in time.
And what a neat idea for a photographer to implement. A much more personal touch than a "bought" card.
I am curious, was this a still life that you created for a specific purpose, (i.e. for your Christmas Card)or was it an annual decoration that you set out and just decided to take a photograph of it? (created vs. found)

I don't think that you used enough different fonts in that there card...
@JB: The same thought crossed my mind, but heck, it's Xmas!
Nick - this picture is a "found" picture inasmuch as the lamp shade (and the lamp it sits on) is actually a year-round item, not a annual decoration. And, yes, I pictured it, as found, expressly for our Xmas card.
