tuscany # 15 ~ trompe l'oeil (ok, shoot me; that's French - I don't know the Italian phrase)

This fresco of the River Arno, which was painted on the wall in an arch on Ponte Vecchio - the oldest of Florence's six bridges - was one of nicest I saw while we were in Firenze (Florence).

Oh wow this is weird! Just got an email from my brother linking me to an online photo album of pictures from his Mediterranean cruise---which I had absolutely NO idea he had gone on! Then I come for a visit to The Landscapist to see more of Mark's Italy images (which I am very much enjoying btw) and what do I see but the same red banners/flags/signs draped over the river Arno with the Ponte Vecchio in the scene! Guess my bro was in Florence on September 11. His shot of the bridge was taken from Michelangelo Square in the hills above Florence. What day were you at that site Mark? Too weird. Maybe he's in one of your shots? A big, fat gay guy with a goatee and a fedora? :-)
Hey Mary - small world, huh? I was in Firenzi on 9/16 so our paths obviously did not cross.
There you go.
