still life # 8 ~ it's hot and humid

A little strangeclick to embiggen
A couple good quotes to think about on a hot humid day here in the Adirondacks.

A Ming vase can be well-designed and well-made and is beautiful for that reason alone. I don't think this can be true for photography. Unless there is something a little incomplete and a little strange, it will simply look like a copy of something pretty. We won't take an interest in it. ~ John Loengard

I'm not sure if this comes off as derogatory, because I don't mean it to, but IMHO your commercial style work blows your fine art work out of the water. I mean, once you set up some lights and a sturdy tripod, a subject and some film (err..I mean a memory card) truly beautiful stuff emerges!

kid i do not agree. While the stills are certainly nice i find that the landscapes are more on the side of trying to communicate.
Communication may/must have failures. I am on the side that photography is more about communicating than in making wall papers (or fine art as everybody calls it).

Mauro...

in substance I agree. And that is what matters IMO. But from a technical viewpoint his commercial (i.e. lighting, studio, setup) images are technically amazing. Lighting, composition, exposure, etc...I guess I should have been more clear.
