About This Website

This blog is intended to showcase my pictures or those of other photographers who have moved beyond the pretty picture and for whom photography is more than entertainment - photography that aims at being true, not at being beautiful because what is true is most often beautiful..

Has anyone besides Jim Jirka made any progress on a photo book? And, while I'm asking - Jim, would you like to share your progress with the audience via link to ShareInk?

I hope the initial enthusiasm for the idea hasn't petered out. I assume that the silence on the matter is because you're all working your butts to the bone making books.

Come on gang. Share your stuff. Let us see what only you know.

I'm still plugging away, being among those blessed with a day job. I changed my mind about what do the first(!) book on. I had some help thinking about the main problem, which I found to be sequencing of images, from commenters on a post at Art and Perception. Since then< I've added a few images and am nearly ready to make the final decisions. Then it's on to actually creating the book. I'm planning to start with Blurb because it's cheap and I want to see how it looks, but I'm open to suggestion and would certainly like to hear about other experiences.

BTW this is the first go around. I am working to add some things that Mark suggested.

Jim, I wasn't able to get in using the link, but as a member I only needed to log in and go to the shared books section and find it. Good stuff. It really is delightful in all it's subtleties. The careful observer is in for a real treat.

The quote by Confucius is apropos...although I believe you need to get rid of the apostrophe in "it's".

Mark,
As for the contractor ad image, it brings back memories for me. I used the digitizer puck shown here as well as the manual drafting tools, prior to the coming of the age of CAD. I also worked with some of the first CAD based tools, some of which now are archaic, like the 50mb winchester drive which stored all of our drawings.

Well I finally got this loaded somewhere that other people can get to.
Warning it is a 25mb pdf file.

Well, it's been a few months since Mark brought this up but I finally got around to finishing a smaller project and using Blurb to publish it. I don't have the book yet, but a preview is available here - http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/276179

Jim, did you ever send yours off to SharedInk?
