urban ku # 91 ~ beach life at its best
Everyday by about 6pm, the beach people leave the beach. Except for a few walkers and even fewer runners the beach remains pretty deserted until the next day.
And so it is with photographers. While there is sizeable group of dedicated night shooters, they are definitely in the minority. I wonder why that is.
We haven't done a 'theme' gallery for quite awhile. Is there any interest in a Night Gallery?

Wasn't that a title of a TV show awhile back. Maybe it might have been longer than awhile back. Maybe I should keep my mouth shut and not show my age. ;-)
Sounds like an interesting idea.
Excellent theme idea, I think it would bring out an interesting variety of work.
"I wonder why that is."
It's because they got tired of their spouse grumbling about them being out all night and not in bed where they can be cuddled.
Good idea for a new theme gallery Mark. I'd be up for the challenge.
There's something kind of apocalyptic feeling about this image--or as if it's all a mirage.
Love the photograph. Centred horizon (well ok, almost), graphically compelling and and a strong sense of being alone - my favourite ingredients.
I've only sporadically attempted photographing at night - I think primarily because I'm not really a night time person (just ask my wife). But I've thought about doing it often enough (like the idea of the possible ingredients).
Or maybe it's just because I live farther north so that in summer when it's pleasant enough the dark comes late. And in the winter when dark comes early (way too early) it's often freakishly cold.
Cheers,
Eric
Great idea, would like to join.

When I see a photograph that I like very much, I often relate it to music. The content of the image dictates the musical atmosphere my brain conjures up. To coin a phrase, "the music of the night" comes to mind when I think of night photography. A wonderful idea for a gallery, I look forward to it.
