Man Made Wilderness
This is the lead image for a show of my work that is currently hung in C'ville Coffee in Charlottesville, VA. You can see the rest of the images from the show here. All these photographs are an attempt to find "beauty" wherever I happen to be standing. Maybe there's even a "message." Free Food this Friday, Oct. 5, if you're in town, come to the opening!

I like the idea of "wherever I happen to be standing". I had a similar idea about shooting everything to the immediate left of what I thought was a beautiful image...i.e. I see a cool looking tree set in some fog...I frame it with the lens and then turn one complete frame to the left and shoot whatever happens to be there instead.??? eh, maybe it's a silly idea.
Best of luck with the show!
Aaron,
Not a silly idea at all! I love it! It's like the old saying, "There are no dumb questions only dumb blankety blanks." But I wonder if you would forever be excusing the image you made by saying, "Here's the one that I really thought was grand!" And you show the tree in the fog.
Good luck with your show, too. I expect plenty of people will see your work in NYC, whereas I'm still expecting only 2 people at my opening: my wife, and my daughter. If you keep those expectations low, you can only be surprised if they are exceeded.
